One of The Few Calgary Daycares That’s Family Owned & Operated

 You’re Never a Number Here

Why Did We Start This Calgary Daycare?

My husband (Daniel) and I were doing well in our real estate careers. But both of us were run ragged. Long night, evenings, and weekends.

Then our son Owen came along. It was one the happiest day of our lives. We started looking for Calgary daycares to visit.  We did what you’re probably doing and searched online.

We quickly noticed that a lot of the reviews (if there were any) weren’t that great. But we kept at it and made a short list of a few places. I booked the tours and we went off to take a look.

Being an early childhood educator for many years I had a lot of questions and pretty high standards for these Calgary daycares. A lot of hard questions and I wanted the quality to be the best.

After a few tours we quickly noticed that this wasn’t going to be easy. Heck at a certain point we thought it was going to be impossible.

What were we looking for? Simple. Clean, safe daycare. One large building on one level. We wanted academics for Owen but in a fun and exciting way. A holistic approach to child care. A well balanced Owen.

We didn’t find it. Of all the Calgary daycares we toured, only a few made the grade. But we had another issue. Waitlists. The 2 daycares we loved had a 500 person waitlist. We weren’t getting in anytime soon. We were done for!

Our Mindset At The Time

We felt disheartened but at the same time a light bulb went off in our heads. Real estate was starting to get… err….old. Old and tiring. We were working crazy hours and there seemed no end in sight.

Owen would rarely see us, and he would be at a subpar Calgary daycare to boot. We decided to start our own daycare. But not just a daycare but a daycare school.

I had many years of experience with children. I worked at daycares in Winnipeg and owned a dayhome at one point. I was a part of child care boards to over see other programs. I knew I had what it takes. Not the business side…

Daniel has always had a knack for business. He’s organized and knows how to make a business run professionally and not like many Calgary daycares out there.

We would be a winning team! We quit our real estate careers and started 2000 Days Daycare. Now Owen would have a great daycare to spend his days at. Plus we got the bonus of seeing him when we wanted.

Benefits Of A Family Running A Calgary Daycare

There are many benefits to attending a daycare that is family run. Most parents don’t realize that.

One of those benefits is that we are local to Calgary. A true Calgary daycare. Everyone here lives in Calgary and all the monies earned get spent in Calgary. Local through and through.

Quick to react. Being the owner with my husband has the great benefit of us calling the shots. If a parent doesn’t like something and we can change it, we do. Sometimes that day.

Being agile like that is incredible. We can make policies or change something physically at the daycare very quickly. Larger, more corporate centres would take months to change. I’ve worked at them, I know.

Access is another big benefit. Talking to a manager is fine. Or even the director. They can take your inquiry or concern up the ladder. But with 2000 Days Daycare you get to talk to the owner.

We can take care of this right there and then. Want the menu changed because your child likes this or doesn’t like that? We’ll take care of it. Had a concern about our lock down policy and how we implement it? Fixed!

The finally huge benefit and I think the biggest by far is quality and care. We care. We truly care about your family and your children. We’re not just here for the dollars or to grow an empire with our shareholders.

We care about your child and want the VERY best for them. Our smaller class sizes prove this. We could fill our Calgary daycare to the rafters with children and make more money. Lowering the quality in the process. We won’t ever do that.

Our gym is also a sign of this. Another room that is for the well being of your child. We could use it as another classroom to put in more kids. We won’t as they need to run and play when the weather is bad.

This lowers our revenue but it increases our quality. Daycare is expensive, we all know that. We try to keep our costs down and quality up. It’s a struggle every month but we think we’re doing a good job of it.

Why Is This Good For MY Family?

If you want a high quality daycare with a strong curriculum AND you want to be treated like family…then yes. You can stop searching.

Everything we’ve mentioned on this web page about family. Your family and ours. Finding care can be stressful. Having your child in a Calgary daycare can be stressful. But once you find the right daycare it melts away.

We do everything in our power to make our daycare a family place. Where parents can come and talk to us anytime? Where your child is the priority and not dollars.

We’ve said this again and again you are never a number here. Heck, Daniel and I are friends with many of the families that have graduated from our program. We see families from our program and chat for hours.

We hope you’ll be one of the families that love our Calgary daycare as much as we do. And maybe we’ll even become friends. Book a tour  and find out.
